Where can I read your booking Terms and Conditions?

When you set up an account through our booking portal and make a booking request you will be presented with our terms and conditions.

Can we do a meet and greet?

Yes. We aim to do whatever we can to make sure you and the dog are super comfortable in choosing The Dachshund Manor. We are happy to arrange a time at a convenient location to meet and answer any questions. You can also meet Walter.

Can I visit The Dachshund Manor before booking?

Our priority is the dogs we are hosting and we will not do anything to impact their stay.

We work extremely hard to ensure the dogs in our care are well settled and see our home as their own. Dogs can act adversely to visitors and this can have an impact on their comfort, trust levels and everyone’s safety.

It can be a good idea to arrange a playdate or daycare visit for your dachshund prior to their planned holiday with us.

We encourage you to arrange a meet and greet and you might also like to read the reviews on our website. We would also be happy to conduct a face time viewing if this option is more convenient for you.

Do you accept dogs that haven’t been desexed?

As of 1 March 2024 we no longer accept entire males more than 12 months old. Existing guests are exempt, however we may decline a dog based on behavioural issues which can be a direct result of it not being desexed.

What should I pack for my dog’s stay?

Our goal is to replicate the home environment for your dog at The Dachshund Manor. The two most important items are bedding and food as we recommend keeping the diet the same while in our care.

The Blue Mountains does get cold so please pack a jacket/coat/jumper along with their lead. The rest you can leave up to us.

What will my dog eat?

We strongly encourage that you provide food for the duration of your dogs stay. Where possible this should reflect what your dog eats at home. This can be provided to us in portion sizes or in bulk as we have ample storage for dry goods and frozen meals. If you are unsure, please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss your dogs specific dietary requirements.

Where do the dogs sleep?

Where you tell us. Most dogs sleep in our bedroom either in their own bed or crate. We aim to replicate the home environment and if this means the dog sleeps in the human bed with us, then that is ok too. Our goal is to make your dog happy; it’s that simple.

Does The Manor have heating and cooling?

Yes it does. All tiled areas in the house have under floor heating providing our guests with an extra snuggly environment. In addition, each room has wall heating and the communal living and sleeping areas have split air heating/cooling.

I am having a baby and would like my dachshund to stay at The Manor but I am unsure of the exact dates. How should I make this booking?

That is perfectly understandable and we respect that your dates and requirements may change. For all existing customers we will always accommodate your dog even if we are technically full. We encourage you to contact us or make the booking based on best guess. We will only charge you at the end of the stay as we appreciate this may need to remain fluid to reflect your circumstances.

How do you manage my dachshund who suffers from anxiety?

We are very experienced at managing different levels of anxiety. For dogs that are medicated we will manage their prescription medication during their stay. If your dachshund suffers mild anxiety, we will monitor your dogs interaction with the group to ensure they are happy at all times. We do find that our strict approach to keeping the group small has a very positive impact on each dachshunds behaviour.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated to visit The Dachshund Manor?

Yes he/she does. Our priority is the health and well being of the dogs in our care and the dogs being vaccinated is a critical element of this. Our booking system allows you to enter the up to date vaccination details and we will even send you a reminder as the expiry date approaches. It is the owners responsibility to make sure this detail is accurate. Your dog will be refused entry if the vaccination details are not up to date. You will be ineligible for a refund in this instance.

How will I be updated during my dog’s stay?

We understand that your dachshund is family and you will want to know how he/she is getting on. We provide personalised updates for each dog every day via WhatsApp. You will never be left wondering what activities your dog is up to and we pride ourselves on creating great memories of your dachshunds stay.

What happens if my dog requires medical treatment?

Our priority is your dachshunds wellbeing at all times. If we feel that your dog needs medical help we will not hesitate to engage with a local vet. The single question we ask ourselves in such a circumstance is, ‘what would we do if it was Walter?’

We always advise you at the earliest opportunity of this decision. Any costs incurred will be onforwarded to you for reimbursement at cost.

I have a dachshund and a dog of another breed can they both stay at The Dachshund Manor?

We never separate families. Your non dachshund is welcome to enjoy the creature comforts of The Dachshund Manor assuming they are comfortable being surrounded by dachshunds and will not negatively impact the stay of our other dachshund guests. We don’t accept other breeds under any other circumstance.
